Here is the analyst!!!! :D

Hello everybody, I’m going to analyse a bit!!

How you can see from previous weeks I’m in charge of  analysing how we have worked as a group and as a individuals and also what we have learnt during this week doing the activity.

I think that when we doing an activity always have some positive things, and other less positive things. In this case I think that the positive o the best part of the activity of this week has been to have to do a webpage in a new website that we didn’t know called “Fakebook”. In this webpage some of us, Silvia, Rebeca, María and me who had a type of leader, had to create a profile, in where we had to write why people had to choose our leader, and why not they didn’t have to chose the others. I think that, how in the real life each one thinks in her/his own benefit, and something like that have occurred in this activity, since when we had to write why not people didn’t have to choose our partners I think that there was a bit of bad idea, but it’s normally because if not the activity wasn’t totally real. How we would say in Spanish, “sacamos trapos sucios”.

I have to say that when we have done the activity we were melancholic, because this activity was the last one of the course, and on the one hand we were happy because we have worked so hard and now we want to study for our exams, but on the other hand we were sad because, really, we had a lot of fun doing all the activities and we have learnt from the others and also we have learnt to be more respect with the opinions from the other and somethings like that. The thruth is that there was a special thing that we thought that it was the best moment of our last activity and it was to see some of our professors of the university which ones encouraged us. I could say some bad moments but this week, allthings have been good, I thought that it means that we have learnt many things during the course, which ones we have applied to do a good group. I would like to say that I’m so proud of my partner’s work, and of my group in general since they are good people, and better students.

The content of this activity is related to the real life in many aspects. For example, in a future we will work at a school, and the director of the school will be like our leader, and we have to be prepared to work with different types of people and doing our work the better that we can. I think that this activity has allowed us to know how type of leader we would like to be in a future.

Finally I would to say that how I said before, I am a bit bad because I am going to miss a lot our meeting to do the different activites, and the moment that we have passed together which ones are in my mind forever and how I also have said before I am so proud of my group, and I hope that finally all our work have a good reward.

Boys and girls, I see you soon!!! I hope that you don’t miss us a lot!!!

Good luck!!

The analysis of the week is here!

Hi bloggers! I am Silvia, the analyst of this week and, as the own name says, I am going to analyse the best and the worst points if the week and the activity that we have realized.

This week we have worked with the Coexistence Plan. More specifically, we have had to do a video resolving a problem in the school that other classmates have created (in our case the group 7UP).

In my opinion the best part of the activity has been that thanks to the Coexistence Plan we have learnt about how different schools can resolve the problems with students, parents or even teachers and, in the same way, now we know that each school has its own Coexistence Plan and we must adhere to it. On the other hand, if I have to talk about the worst part I must say that find and interpret the Coexistence Plan has been a bit difficult because it was not very clear in our specific case and we had to adapt it as we thought that was the best, although in part, even if it was a bit hard because at first we were a bit confused about if we would be doing it well, it has helped us in order to learn about interpret documents and adapt them to the case that you want to. Even if these documents are not clear of the issue that you want to work. So, at the end, even the worst part of the activity has helped us for our future, in which I do not think that all is going to be easy and clear and we must learn to adapt ourselves to the different situation using those things that are in your hand.

Regarding the work in group I think that this has been a wonderful week in this aspect because we have worked all together in order to do the video and I have loved it. With this I mean that while one was recording a scene as an actress other was recorded as the camera and the other were helping doing the script, so we were working all together in the same place, laughing when we had to repeat a scene or we had got stupid (although funny) ideas for the scrip, a situation that sometimes we cannot enjoy because some activities are not so cooperative. For instance, the past weeks were easier and faster to work individually, although after we united the work, a thing that although effective did not permit us to work together as this week. However, there has been some bad parts too, or instance the worse part of the activity has been to coordinate all the materials and even ourselves for doing the documentary, because in some moments something was missing or the camera was without battery and we did not have the charger, so we had to meet another day in order to finish the video. In my opinion, we maybe must be more careful with this type of things because we could save a lot of time in the future, although I think that this has been in part because we had a lot of things in our heads and the good part is that thanks to this we have learnt the lesson for the next.

So, taking into account what I have said previously, without any doubt a thing that we must maintain as a group is our work together, helping one to other and offering ourselves voluntaries when there is something to do. However it is true too that, although in my opinion our work in group is very good, we must concentrate more in the activities in the future because sometimes we take a lot of time for putting to do the activities and it only implies that we lose an important time that we can use for other things, above all at this period of the year.

Finally, I think that thanks to this activity, as I have said before, we have learnt about what measures we can take when we have some problem in the school and, in the same way, if the coexistence plan of our school takes into account all the measures that it must have. So, taking into account these points this activity can be very useful for our future, as in the degree as in our job, because what are the steps that we must follow for resolving problems (and that we must take into account all the perspectives and opinions of the people implicated) a thing that, we like it or not, probably we are going to confront more frequently that we think. In the same way we can already see the great number of problems in schools that there are. For instance, when we watch the news, in which usually appears problems with teachers, students, parents… A fact that demonstrates the importance of knowing what we can or cannot do in order to do our job in the best way possible.

The analyst is here! CONGRATULATIONS POWER TEACHERS!

Hello everybody! I'm Rebeca Cascales Ribera and this week I'm the ANALYST. As you can see in other posts of analysts, the person in charge of this role value every week's work, in an individual and collective way.

These weeks, we're working into the same topic, LOMCE, but in different activities. This is very important in our degree because the laws are in continuous changing and we must know how to investigate a curriculum, when we become teachers, because I'm sure that it will change and it won't be the LOMCE one.

The week's activity was doing a training for our next week's starts to study the six topics' questions and the Snake and Ladders' session.

To start with how the activity was, I have to say that it's one of the most interesting activities that we've done, it is very dynamic and funny for some components of the group, overall to the "cheerleaders". The worst of this activity was studying every questions for our stars, they have to be the responsible of answer in our name and I have to say that they have done it very well.

One of the best moment of this activity was the moment of Monday 27th when our stars started to guess the answer and they guessed 6 straight questions. It was very exciting because we were encourage them to follow and it was a good moment for every Power Teachers. And of course, the best moment of this activity was the moment on Thursday 30th when our stars got win the game and it was so stimulating for us. We had achieved what every member of the class wants. On the other side, the worst moment of the session of today (Thursday 30th) was waiting for the last question, we were so nervous and of course, our stars, who were waiting for it anxiously.

The most important of this activity has been learning in a different methodology as the usual one about the LOMCE. This topic is one of the topics that we work in some subjects. In this Organisation and Educational Resources we are seeing it in a general view and we are knowing all the branches. In other subjects such as Diversity, we are seeing it in another perspective, for example we're focusing on the support measures that LOMCE offers to the children with some difficulties.

Regarding the social connexion, this activity called Snake and Ladders is very similar to the nowadays television programmes. I think that every programmes with questions and answers are very interesting because there is very tension and that makes spectators are more inside the game, as we lived in class on Monday 27th and on Thursday 30th. It was like living one of this television programme in our own class.

Now, I'm going to reflect about the working way of this last weeks. When we started the LOMCE topic, we was working by groups such as Power Teachers, Power Puff Teachers... but then, the groups were mixed, divided and the way of work changed, at the beginning it was a bit difficult because we had got used to work with our group and suddenly it had changed. By the time, we worked better and better and this will help us in a future to do whatever with whoever always. Now, I'm going to focus in my group, I'm very proud of them because although we sometimes have some difficulties, we always achieve what we have proposed and this gives us strength to get ahead.

CONGRATULATIONS POWER TEACHERS!

I hope you really enjoy with us and with our posts! Thank you for reading and... Visit us!

Well, it's the turn of the analyst! Read below and enjoy with our task!

Hi bloggers! I'm María García and this week I have been the ANALYST of this activity! As you know, my work in this role is to explain you how we have worked (as a group and individually), the content that we have learned from this task and his importance to us.

As you have already known, we continue with the activity of Spanish Educational System. Each week, we have made different tasks with the same topic. This week, we had to organize the questions that all the groups are done for making sure that any question was repeated. Also, we reviewed all the questions, according to the survey that Linda gave us. Then, we mixed with other groups and we had to chose what questions were the best. Finally, we decided what strategy we will use for reviewing the questions to our stars.

The task of this week hasn't been busier than others that we have already done because we did the work of this activity in class with our partners.

We are working with the LOMCE, the present Spanish Educational law and I think that it is so important that we work with this because we have to know how is organized our Educational System. Maybe, you are thinking that the LOMCE has a lot of information but in the way that we are working with, it isn't difficult to know the main principles. Moreover, as future teachers it's important to know the law and how we can organize it for understanding it better.

With this big activity we have worked with some tools and we have interacted with several groups from the class, that it was so good. We have worked with groups as PowerpuffTeachers, Bussy Bees or KeepCalm&KeepOrganized and I think that it was a great experience. We could see how they have worked during the past weeks and we have applied different points of view. That way to work have given us more motivation and several ideas to applying in our group. For all of us, this kind of group dynamics have taught some values as mixed all the ideas in a way what we agree, take other points of view, the importance of teamwork, etc. Because is not the same working with your own group (Powerteachers) that divide you and working with other group. It's different but in a good way. So, I think that it was the best part of this activity.

And you maybe think, there's any bad time in the task?
Well, I think that there aren't bad times because we have got on with the others groups and the task was not boring because we have worked in class and we have interacted with many people so it was very dynamic in my opinion. However, I think that it wasn't easy choosing ''the best'' questions because there are a lot of them and we only could chose 10. Besides, maybe you think that a question is great but other person doesn't think the same. So, is complex but as we have been ''a group and a half'' we have shared several points of view and we have decided ''the best'' by us. Nevertheless, if I have to say one ''bad part'' I will say that the ''boring'' part of this activity was reviewing if there were repeated questions. But we had to do because by this way we have eliminated the same questions.

In my opinion, we have to continue working like that because we usually have the task without problems between us and we always help each other when some of us doesn't understand something of the activity. I think that as we move in time, we are improving and now we get comfortable with the subject and with all the instruments that we are using. Although this activity may seem long, we are working a lot and the next week we will do a game that I have the feeling that it will be fun. And with this long career we are learning a lot about LOMCE and the most important thing: We are learning it step by step and I think that with the game we will remember this activity and the content.

One of the most important purposes that I think this activity has are knowing the law because this is not something that you study and you forget the following week. Although the law changes, now the LOMCE is the law and it is something that is in our lives right now. There are many news about the Educational System in the news and I think that when you are watching or reading something about that it is pleasant to know what are the news talking about. So, it is important to know how is our environment. Because we are going to be future teachers and what kind of teachers we will be if we are not interested about our Educational System?
Besides, this kind of activity is related with our academic life because it doesn't matter what subject you are studying, the law is applying to all the Educational System.

Finally, I want to say that Powerteachers have passed great times working with the other groups and that we are trying to do the best of us.

I hope you like our posts and that you visit our blog every week.

ADVERTISEMENT: Next week, we will do a game... And it will be so exciting!! So, keep attentive the next week! Our stars are working to do the best of them!!

Let's analyse a bit!

Hi bloggers! I'm Anthea and I have been the analyst during this task. As you already know, my current role consists on control how we work, not only in group, but also by ourselves.

This time, the task was about the same topic as the week before: the LOMCE, the Spanish Education Law,  which was divided into six parts in our task. But actually the work consisted on making four questions for each topic, so, in total, 24.
As future teachers (or at least we are supposed to be), we have to know what the current law ask us to teach and what children have to learn.

It has been good having more time to prepare this activity, because we had some very hard weeks and this time we have had more time to discuss among us and try to do it better than before. The best thing of this activity has been having the same topic than the week before and realise that we remember many things about the topic we worked in. In this way, it has been more dynamic sharing what we knew, because we did not have to look at the documents as frequently as the times we didn't know almost anything.

But not everything has been a piece of cake! When we though we would be able to finish an activity without any added difficulty, right at the end, we realised that the cards were badly printed, because the lines were not in the place they should have to be. So we basically wasted our money. In order not to spend our money once more, we decided not to printed again and we saw that the other alternative was the use of the correction fluid, although maybe it has not been the best choice, as we have realised.

As students and future teachers we don't stop learning and this week we have keep learning about this topic, but mainly how to make good questions about something. We have learnt to create not easy questions, but a bit more difficult ones. Furthermore, we have learnt to be more cooperative and to give opinions and advises to our colleagues. So this is something we should conserved as a group for the following weeks.

We have to know what the law says (as I have mentioned before), because it is where the contents which have to be taught are. So, in part it is good to be familiar with it; but, on the other hand, it is difficult for anyone because of the continuous changes of the law, each time that a new political party starts directing our country. It good be a really good point having an educational law as the Finnish one (for example), since Finland is one of the best countries that a person can study in.

Finally, I would like to point out that our education it is not a joke or a game, it is something necessary for getting a job, improving our life level or even just for feeling good about oneself.

Analyzing not only the LOMCE, but also how we work!

Hello bloggers! I'm Alba García and this week I'm the group's analyst. As you know from previous weeks, the analyst is in charge of analysing how we have worked as a group and also as individuals, and also what we have learned.

The task we have had to do this week has been about the Basics of the Spanish Educational System. We have analysed the LOMCE, which is the new Spanish educational law. As it has been recently introduced, we only knew some aspects of this law, which actually were very few. As future teachers, this activity has helped us to know how the situation will be (if the law stays the same) when we arrive to the classrooms, what we will have to face and deal with. It is true that educational laws don't stay the same for long, but even if they change some aspects of it are likely to stay the same (as it has already happened between the LOE and the LOMCE, for instance), so it is never a bad idea to know about them beforehand.

It is vital to know about the law, about what will be demanded and expected from us, and what we will have to do with our students for them to achieve their best in the current educational system. This also happens in any other job. This way, any employee will have to know the business' rules and what will be expected from him or her so that person can perform his or her best in the role they are performing at work. We can't just act freely. In order to succeed, we have to stick to the rules  and try to don't go beyond them or otherwise we will have to face the consequences of not doing what we were supposed to do.

Thanks to this activity we have also realized that we don't have to read the hundreds of pages a law contains, but we can instead look for official websites which offer an understandable and complete summary of the law we want to know about. Besides, this can also be done with thousands of other topics. This way we won't have to spend too much time reading a document which we hardly understand because of the complex vocabulary.

The best part of this activity was, without a doubt, getting to know how things at schools are nowadays, as they are very different from when we were at school (which wasn't long ago). Otherwise, we wouldn't have had the initiative to read a document about the new educational law and know a bit about it. On the other hand, the worse part of the activity was having to read so many documents, especially for topic 1! But, luckily, as we are six members in the group we divided the documents between us so it wasn't as tiring.

As a group we almost always tend to agree on what we are going to do and how we are going to do it. However, sometimes we discuss a bit because one of us thinks that doing a different thing is better, but I suppose that happens in every group and it will also happen when we become teachers at a school. This week's activity hasn't been a problem with that aspect, as we all knew how the programme we were going to use (Cmap Tools) worked and we all had a common idea of how we could do the conceptual map for each topic.

Furthermore, dividing the big group in two smaller groups of three members each was a great idea as we could work on both topics at the same time and profit better the time. But not all that glitters is gold. As one of the topics was longer that the other, one of the groups had to read and analyse more information than the other group, but overall we all worked hard on the topics we had to do.

Because of that, although we tend to work well together, something we could improve on is looking well at the documents and what the task is about before dividing the work among us, as at first sight it may seem longer or shorter than what it really is. This way, we will make sure that the work will be divided equally between us.

To finish with I would like to stress the idea that for doing our best we have to know what is expected from us and how we are expected to do it not only in the professional aspects, but also academically. And remember, you can always improve what you do. The sky is the limit!

It's time to analyse the week!!!!

Hello my bloggers, first of all I have to tell you that this week have been a beautiful week since with this task my group and me have had a lot of fun.
First of all I would like to say that the funniest part of the activity was making a video. Since while we were doing it we were remember how the course started and how long time have passed until now. While we were remembering the different tasks that we did we remembered too the bad moments which my group and me have lived, since we had many problems at time to meet.
Apart from the feelings, we have learnt many things, like what is TPACK, how can we use images, videos, music, with a creative common license; how to use many different tools to do a comic, and others things, how to do a presentation in other programme which isn’t power point or prezi, and many things like that. If you can see more about it you can look for in the previous task and in the post of the analyst you can see each task developed deeper, since this task it has been a summarize of all thing that we have done until now.
Well, it’s time to talk about my colleges and me as a group. Firstly I have to say that we always respect to the other opinions, thinking, timetables, problems, and somethings like that. We don’t despise anything from the others, so I thing that is a good characteristic of us. On the other hand, I think that when we meet sometimes we lost time, it could be something normal, since after eight hours of class we don’t want to work six hours more, but how I said before we had serious problems at time to met, so when we met we have to benefit the more we can. So I maybe improving this aspect to the follows weeks, and maybe we work less hours and maybe we have more time to do other things.
This contents are related to other contents for example, that textbooks can’t say always the thruth, so we shouldn’t entrust always in the tools that we use to study, and something like that because they could be wrong. Secondly that we only can use photograph with creative common license in our works and studies. Thirdly, how we have to do an exposition, since we often do exposition in all the degree, and in a future like future teachers we are going to be in a long exposition in our class. And finally, TPACK is related to all our subjects since each one have at least one of the components of TPACK, such as technology, pedagogy, or content.
I think that related to this task there isn’t any connection of this content, apart from that politics and our class have been the same things, like a campaign period to win the public in which each group explain the reasons why the have to win the competition, and after that we have to vote each group and finally a the winner will win a food for each member of the group.

It's time to analyse the week!

Hi bloggers! I am Silvia García Martínez and this week my role has been the analyst!

As probably you have seen in the other posts this week the task has been based on “The dark side of the textbooks” a topic that, in my opinion, has been very interesting and has helped me to know other perspectives and realities about one important instrument for all the teachers currently. But we are going to go step by step.

From my point of view I must say that the best part of this activity has been to do the comic, in part because we have learnt a new tool that we can use in our future to do more interactive and fun classes considering that, like we can see in the blog Macinstruct and as The Washington post’s article explains, the comics can be used as a new method for teaching, taking into account the popularity that they have among the children.  In addition, apart from this reason, the other important factor that has influenced me to say that the comic has been the best part of the week (and I can say that this has been the best moment in group of the week too) is that I loved how we coordinated to do it. That moment was wonderful because we did a brainstorming without to try it, simply, we started to give our ideas spontaneously. In the same way, as we did not know how to use the tools from the web 0.2, we had to help each other and to work together, an aspect that was very funny because we have to investigate and to do a lot of tests that we enjoyed a lot.

By contrast, all the activity was not totally perfect and, although I think that this has been one of the best and funnier activities that we have done until now we have had some problems too. The main problem and the worse part of this activity has been that on Monday 09th, when we tried to send Linda the link of the web page in which we did our comic we could not do it, above all because we did each vignettes separately in order to can print it in a bigger size. I think that this has been the worst part because after a great week we felt a bit overwhelmed and worried because we did not know how to do it. In my opinion our fault was that we did not think that Linda could want to see the entire comic on the web 2.0. In the future we must try to be prepared for these things and not feel overwhelmed about them, above all because we are going to confront this type of situations (as in our career as in our daily life) so we must learn to deal with them. When I talk about the work in group I am proud to say that this week we have done, in my opinion, a very good work even if we cannot meet all together, because in that situation we have been capable of divide the work and do all the same amount of work (more or less).

So, as I have said, one of the most important things that I have learnt is how to use new tools that can help us in our future. But other important thing that I would like to emphasize is that, thanks to this activity, I have learnt that the textbooks, an essential instrument in education currently, maybe are not so good or indispensable as we have always thought. With this I want to say that with this activity I have realized how (at least in my opinion) the textbooks always have been seen as a tool that is going to be always there, even caused that the students (and not only in primary school) do not pay attention to the teacher because the things that they must know for the exam are in the book. And I must recognize that I understand them, if the teacher is only going to ask you the contents that are in the book and, above all, if he or she only is going to repeat the things that are in the textbook (and in some occasions you must give thanks if he or she changes a little the words), why are you going to pay attention? Besides, thanks to this activity I have learnt more reasons for thinking that, maybe, it is time to find an alternative for the textbook, an alternative cheaper, that must be an accompaniment for the teacher, not a content that they should accomplish. But, above all, I think that the main characteristic that this instrument must have is that it has to allow to the children to participate in it, it must be interactive and enjoyable (as much as possible in each subject).

Taking into account all that I said I think that we already do a good job as a group and we must conserve it in the next weeks to continue doing the activities with the same motivation. In my opinion to work in group with a good environment is essential to achieve good activities and I think that we are doing a good work in this aspect. However, I think that there are always things that we can improve as, for example, that we usually have some things to do until the end of the week, and in some occasions, only a person or a few of us must finish the activity because we cannot do together considering that we do not have enough time or only a member of our group dominates the tool that we must use, so in my opinion we must be more foresighted in some aspect and always that it is possible in order to improve and to work always the same in all the aspects. In addition, if we do not learn to use the different tools because (as we have not time) if the same person always do it in order to finish earlier, the rest of us are not going to learn suitably something that can be essential for our future.

Now, to finish, I am going to analyse the connection that the content of this week can have with our degree or with the social life. From my point of view and as I have said before this task can be essential as to our degree as to our daily life as well as it has helped us to understand that we cannot trust in all that we see. With this I want to say that thanks to this activity we have learnt that there are other methods for teaching and that not all the traditional instruments are goods for learning. In this new century the technology has progressed a lot and this, in combination with our imagination, must serve us to develop new techniques that help us to do more participative the classes as well as to save money, to recycle… In the same way this activity has helped us to realize that the content of the textbooks are not confident, a reality that, in my opinion, we can also apply to the TV, the newspapers and so on because in many occasions they are influenced by a determinate ideology, religion or even politic. So we must be very careful and critic with all these things in our daily life.

After around a week... We're going to analyse!

Hi! I am Rebeca Cascales Ribera and this week my role has been the analyst. I had to analyse the week work and evaluate my group mates.

To start with the best part of the activity, it has been working together because we're learning a lot of from each others, when someone doesn't know something, others always help her and in my opinion, it's very important having a good coordination to work in groups.

Secondly, it's also a good part looking for some subjects we could use in the exposition of our topics, it was interesting because it's what we're going to work and teach children in a future, so it was very advantageous to us.

On the other side, the worse part of the activity was selecting the topic of our exposition because some people of the class choose a subject and then, another group has chosen the same one, so they argued and it was difficult, but finally we decided doing it about the climates, specifying in Spain, as anyone has chosen this subject.

And, it was also difficult for us looking for photographs in "Flickr" because in the Creative Common Licence appears scant photos, and we spent so much time with it.

Moreover, the best moment of the week was the moment when we decided our topic and anyone hasn't it because we could start it and work it calmly.

Another good moment was when we finished the Power Point and the Prezi because is a very big reward for us seeing that our worked project is finally finished and it's very interesting and original.

I have to say that receiving critics by our teacher has been also a good moment, although you can think that it's a nonsense thing, but we're learning a lot of ways to improve our work and doing better and better. To learn some new things, we should have a motivation and there's not any better than a mistake to solve.

“We learn from failure, not from success!” (Bram Stoker, 1897).

However, the worse moment of the week is the same every week, when we have to meet together, someone always can't do it because she has another thing to do, so it's difficult because in that moment, we get frustrated but finally, we agree with a solution.

We have learnt very interesting and useful things in this project because this will help us in a future, we will know how to do a good exposition and how to teach children and to catch their eye. It's very awesome seeing how a variety of significant steps will help you to do an interesting lecture or a boring one.

We have also learnt that it exists lots of photographs that you can't learn in you projects, investigation and activities because they haven't got the Creative Common Licence, you must use the photos which have it and tell where photographs come.

And finally unlike other groups, we have learnt about the climates. Firstly, we've a general view of the world climates; secondly, we focus in the Spain ones; and thirdly, we speak about the Flora and Fauna in Spain too.

I think that as every week, we should conserve coordination we have when we work in groups and the enthusiasm we dedicated to achieve it. We're always supporting ones and others, when someone has a problem, we always try to help her and this shows the motivation and the coordination we have.

My group needs to improve the organisation of the work, when we are organised, we work together in a correctly and coordinated way but before of this, we need a good organisation.
The lack of organisation causes that we spend lot of time in the same aspects and maybe a part that we could be done in 30 min., it's done in 2 hours. So this is the most important aspect that we must improve.

Regarding this activity, we should check and improve some aspects that Linda has said us, this will be better represented and shown in our next activities, for example the Creative Common Licence References in the photographs.

The content of this activity is related to every subjects in the first part and in the second part is related to the Natural Science subject. As I said before, the first part of this activity is useful to everyone and in this case, to every subjects because it shows how to do a good oral and visual exposition. So, we will be able to use it to teach children in a properly way and to catch their eyes.

The second part was about a topic that we choose, we did it about the climates, especially in Spain. Therefore, this will help us in the Natural Science subject because this is a part of this subject, that we will study  and teach in the next years.

Well, I have to say that it exists some social connection with this content because the communication is something very important and essential nowadays as always in our society. So, we should know how to communicate and do it in a correctly way. People tend to think that they would need it if they are teachers or they have a profession like that, but you just are mother, you need it to communicate with your children. Apart from that, if you're student of whatever degree you will need  an idea of how represent a good oral and visual exposition, so this will help you too.

Now, I'm going to do a little reflexion about our week. The Power Teachers Group has been working a lot of to do a very good activity but we have failed because we have done some wrong things as the situation of the climates in the map, especially the climate situated in Argentina, then the references in the photographs or the images' size which must be bigger, occupying every screen. But as Bram Stoker said, we would learn of our failures, not of our successes.

So, we're prepared to achieve our objectives and to do it as better as possible!

Let's go to analyse this activity!!

Hello everyone! I am María García and this week I have been the analyst! My role consists in analysing the work of this week! I hope you find this task interesting and you read our blog every week!

a) What was the best part of the activity?
The best part of this activity was doing the posters of the map projections in three cardboards because we had to work with different materials. We divided the three different map projections: Robinson, Mercator and Azimuthal. It was fun but at the same time weird show the different views of the world and observe how two different countries are shown in each map projection. So, in conclusion, we thought that the best part was working with materials as cardboards, EVA foam, felt-tip markers, etc. It was dynamic and enjoyable. Finally, it was great when our star had to explain the presentation with other stars and we had to share with the other components of the groups our experiences in this task. In a short time we had to mixed our information and did a common presentation for the class and it was interesting.

b) What was the worse?
Without doubt, the worse part of this activity was to look for a topic about a resource that distort the vision of students about something and the information about it. We had to change the topic several times and look for the information about it again. It was difficult to find good examples about our topic for this part of the activity.

c) What was the best moment of the week (in the work of the group)?

I thought that the best moment was when we thought about how we can show this activity. It means, when we were meeting, we collected the information that we needed for this task and each of one of us said a way to explain the activity and how we can do this in an original and enjoyable way. It was like a brainstorm and it was great because between all we took good ideas and we were happy because we saw that our work can be great.

d) What was the worse?

There aren't bad things in the work of the group but it was difficult because we had to agree in the days that we had to meet and not always all of us can meet. Moreover, not always we were agree with some ideas, but we try to do the best that we can do and listen all the ideas and then we decided which one is the best.

e) What have you learnt?

In this activity we learnt that there is several kinds of map projections. Each of the three authors had different ways to see the world and they had a different purpose. We can observe how two different countries are shown in the different map projections. Besides, another part of the activity included the fact that some topics are distort and in this activity we can observed how this occurs in education. There are places where several materials or teachers explain one incident in the way that they want. So, the information that it is given to some children in many places is not neutral. And it is something that we don't realized but it is real. And we had to try to stop this kind of fact. We can learn how this fact happens and we saw some steps to stop that.

f) What do you need to conserve -as a group- for the next weeks?

I think that we always have to maintain the eagerness of working because it so important to do the activities with motivation. When you work with eager beaver and you do the best of you, the work will be great and you pass good times doing it and you learn with it. Moreover, we have to conserve the team spirit and the encouragement and support that we give to the group. We have to continue supporting each other and help between all of us. These are the things that I think we have to conserve every week in our group and in our lives.

g) What do you need to improve -as a group- for the next weeks?

We would need to improve the organization for doing the task because this week we thought that in a short span of time we can do the task and at last we were overwhelmed. Also, we had to organize better the session of meetings and collect all the information as well as possible for the days that we will meet.

h) How this content is related to other contents in the course and in your degree?

The content that we saw in this activity is related with the fact that we as teachers have to make sure that the content that we will explain in the future has to be neutral. Moreover, this activity is related with the subject Spanish because in our treasure hunt we chose one that had questions of Spanish. The content that we learnt in this task I think is related with our course but not specifically with all the subjects. It is more general because this task showed us how some things as the maps can be projected in different ways and how each of one had different purposes. It is good to know that not always all the contents are developed as they had to do. And this fact is important in our degree as teachers.

i) There is any evident social connection of this content (news, politics, etc.)?

There are many social connection with the content of the idea that ''media is not neutral''. Our group chose the topic about history textbooks because in many places the books of history explain a lot of facts in different ways depending on the place. Some history books include the ideologies of the authors and this is not neutral. Besides, other media as TV or other media communication have a distortion because they show many news that are not always as they said it. We found a new that shows how a Texas' school books promote climate change and downplay segregation:

This week the activity was more difficult than the last week but finally we developed it good and we did it in original ways as the treasure hunt. We had to make a bigger effort because we had to think more about what we can do and we had to choose and collect information that it was unknown for us. Also, we didn't organize as well as the last week.

The day of the exposition we had to present the activity with two other groups of the class. Also, the each role of each of the three groups had to share the problems and the experiences that his group had. For example, in my case, the analysts of the groups that we were joined had to share our experiences. I talked with the analysts of the Platypus' and Meerkat's groups. Platypus said that they had problems with the organization of this week's activity (each component of the group have different schedules) and that in the beginning they were confused about the content of the task. However, they asked and they understood the activity and they know that they have to organize better for the next activities. Nonetheless, they did the activity well and they got had a good presentation.

The other group, Meerkat, had problems with the organization too. They had insufficient time to meet with all of them. It was because they had different schedules and not always they can meet. However, they divided the work and they did the activity well. They think that they had to organize better and they had to divide the work equally.
